This exhibition examines the moment when self-preservation and the compulsion to express one’s true feelings meet. “When ‘the love that dares not’, actually dares” as curator and fine arts instructor Christian Rieben explains. Inspired by his personal experience, Rieben aims to uncover the connection between the sexuality of an artist and how their subjective desires are represented aesthetically. With a focus on love in the face of opposition, this “queer-ish” show is one everyone can relate to.
Participating artists include: Joseph Ahn, Sarah Bastress, Dawn Brennan, Taryn Cassella, Laura Collins, Brittany Culkowski, Erin Elizabeth, Abel Guzman, Rachel Hellerich, Aubrey Manson, Amy Misurelli-Sorensen, Sara Peak, and Allison Zuckerman.
