oin us monthly, every First Sunday of the Month from 1-5pm, for Center Sundays, a family friendly filled day with inter-generational artist workshops, artist talks, open studios, exhibitions, community collaborations, music, and small bites. All are welcome to this free event.

March 1st kicks off our first Center Sunday! Check out some of the happenings below:

Art making with Teaching Artists (1 – 4pm)

Create a paper puppet with artist, Dorian Sylvain
Make your own family flag with artist, Mia Gholar

Artist Talks & Performances (1 – 2pm)

Multi-disciplinary performance artist Chicago Flex Resident Artist, Nikki Patin will share excerpts from “Surviving Something” a retrospective of her work spanning the last 20 years

International Visiting Artist, Veshalini Naidu, will share information about her project, “Skin & Flowers” and a performance followed by a Q&A.

Creative Wing Resident Artists Open Studios ( 2 – 5 pm)

Workshops

Essence McDowell’s Lifting as they Climbed Book Workshop 2 – 4pm
Participants will be able to learn about Black women’s histories in Chicago, learn how to use various digital resources to create self-guided tours, and explore the importance of excavating unhold histories.
