Blackstone Summer Block Party

Opening Friday, August 16th, from 3PM - 8PM
The Blackstone Summer Block Party invites people of all ages, from Woodlawn and surrounding neighborhoods, to participate in workshops and activities, share food together, and listen to good music in a safe, inclusive, and engaging space. The focus of the event is to provide FREE resources and learning opportunities, including:
– educational workshops
– giveaway of back-to-school essentials and supplies
– back-to-school kids haircuts by professional barber Ano Bank$
– bike and helmet fittings, safety checks, and more by Blackstone Bicycle Works
– a showcase in collaboration with the Backyard Series with musicians, poets, and a performance by the all-women performers and producers of the hip-hop album, Synergy Chi, with students from their hip-hop technique summer camp
Food will be provided (hot dogs, veggie dogs, and snacks!)
Together, we want to celebrate the end of summer and the start of a new school year with local youth, families, and community members through a fun, educational, and fulfilling gathering
