Memory Forest, an installation by Eden Unluata-Foley
From the artist:
Memory Forest is centered around the idea of human memory, and the recall of memories. The main element of the installation is a series of ceiling hangings that are made from fabrics – discarted sheets and clothing etc. They are all braded and knotted together, with found object inclusions.
Through out the “forest” I have placed augmented reality trackers. When scanned using Augment app (Available for free in all phones app stores,) these trackers will lead audiences to digital objects, online games or online content which can be accessed through smartphones.
Eden Ünlüata – Foley is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and designer based in Chicago. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design from Middle East Technical University (Turkey,) a
MFA degree in Graphic Design from Bilkent University (Turkey,) and a MA degree from the Department of Interdisciplinary Art, Columbia College Chicago.
His artworks investigate the formation of cultural identity and its relationship to place, the sense of belonging, and personal stroies. His primary medium is interactive installations – digital and physical. He continues to exhibit locally and internationally.
