Whitney Huber’s work combines her interests in conceptualism, minimalism, and phenomenology. Autobiographical, feminist and surrealist, her performative work is symbolically emotive and personally revealing.
Rymplecloth, consisting of sheer fabrics, plays with visual perception and acts as a metaphor for both clarity and obscurity. Rymplecloth is the name for cheesecloth that is primarily used as a rag for polishing. Intrigued by its simplicity and evocation of labor, the cloth in this installation will drape, float and hover above the garden, subject to the whims of weather.
Whitney Huber is an artist with a background in art history and cinema studies. She teaches courses in studio art and design, art history and visual culture at Columbia College Chicago. Her work includes sculptural objects, costume, installation, video, performance and community arts. Huber has an MFA in Sculpture and Art History, and an MA in Film Studies, from Ohio University.
